Imagine the scene: a lovely park, walking barefoot through the grass, decadent picnic, watching the ladybugs dance by…

Psych! We now interrupt the regularly scheduled program for something completely different: This is no ordinary Taurus season.

Love Out of Bounds

When the Sun enters earthy Taurus, we do love our sensual pleasures.

Taurus’ governing planet, after all, is the love goddess Venus. All acts of pleasure are her worship.

Only this month, the planet Venus isn’t playing by anyone’s rules but her own. Venus soars what astrologers call “out of bounds” in the neighboring sign Gemini. (You can actually see her high in the western sky after Sunset right now).

While she’s out of bounds, you can expect people to get extra creative when it comes to what they want, especially in love and relationships.

But even more, on Apr. 26 the Sun meets Uranus, a planet who’s never needed a cause to justify his rebellion. If folks had cabin fever before, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

It’s also the one day a year when Uranus is free of his “shadow zone” and willing to play openly on the world stage…

Let’s face it, no one is putting there “live free or die” signs away anytime soon. It may not be logical, but anyone who’s not consciously monitoring their own reality bubble will feel the push to act recklessly to get what they want. Take extra care.

Now, the spring’s Scorpio Full Moon is always passionate and intense.

But some may find this Full Moon a little too intense for their own good.

With the Sun and Moon squaring off with a violence-prone Mars, protests are at higher risk of violence than usual. People will defend their belief structures with force, if necessary, there’s not much space for reason and logic here.

We may also see an even greater spike in domestic violence or suicide rates than we have over the past few months. If you find your thoughts turning dark and stormy, be kind to yourself. And definitely watch out for your loved ones. It’s okay to reach out for help if you need it.

So, yes, you can expect social chaos and confusion to continue through the month.

Existing relationships may need to make some space within the close quarters. This rare circumstance is unknown territory, and needs a new rulebook to go with it. Stil, communication and compassion go a long way in any age.

Others may find they hook up with old flames reaching out from quarantine zones, only to find their love interest disappear just as quickly as they arrived. Or you may meet someone new online, that turns out to be not who you expect.

In any case, the lesson is this: All things change. Enjoy the simple pleasures of the moment. But don’t get too attached to anything. And definitely don’t make any drastic decisions.

Alright, now, let’s talk about those pesky retrogrades…

I know it may not feel like it, but we’ve spent most of the first four months of 2020 in the retrograde-free zone. It’s one of the side-effects of no retrogrades — we’ve been along for the ride. It’s certainly been one thing after another. A feeling of inevitability hangs in the air.

But that’s about to change. In the next weeks half of the planets that can retrograde, stop, and retrace their last steps.

Now that’s a massive energy shift. Here’s what each planet may bring

  • Pluto retrograde brings up questions about power, how we wield it or give it away.
  • Venus retrogrades poke us to explore who and what we love and value.
  • Jupiter retrogrades call into question what we believe and how we relate to Spirit.
  • Saturn retrogrades challenges us to get real — be grounded, pragmatic and self disciplined.

As things slow down, some may even fall into some deep introspection.

In fact, the week of May 9 through 15 is a great time to pull out your journal and do some reflection. Or maybe even get really creative and organize an online retreat for you and your friends to do some processing together.

A Swiftly Tilting Planet

But there’s something even bigger brewing.. But it’s so subtle you may not notice it at first.

It’s like seeds being planted in the dark soil. They won’t won’t come to full bloom for a few years. But nevertheless, it’s there. And they will start growing.

Ominous? Maybe. But also part of the evolution of life..

You see, the Moon’s North Node is moving across 0 degrees of Cancer and that’s the ‘world axis.”

Say what? Okay, let me explain…

The Nodes of the Moon — the north and south nodes — aren’t bodies in space. Instead, they are the crossing points of the Moon’s orbit and the Sun’s apparent path across the sky. But they are important in astrology because they are the place around which eclipses occur.

And eclipses signify changes ahead.

Now, once every 18.6 years, the Moon’s North Node crosses 0 degrees Cancer. And when it does, it starts a lunar season called a “Major Lunar Standstill.”

That’s a technical name for a period of time when our safe, dependable Moon gets a little weird.

Twice each month, the Moon takes a walk on the wild side. In astrology terms, she moves “out of bounds.”

At first only for a few hours, but eventually it will be for a few days at a time.

This extra instability “churns” what lies beneath the surface of mind.

It weakens outdated structures from the inside out. So that when external forces push for change, the ground itself gives way under the old beliefs and institutions.

Maybe some history will put it in better context…

There were major lunar standstills percolating before the First World War, the Great Depression, the start of the Cold War, the Vietnam War, the collapse of the Iron Curtain, and the 2008 market crash.

Just saying. Major Lunar Standstills often coincide with major social shifts.

The Major Lunar Standstill culminates between 2024–2025, increasing a little bit in intensity each month until then.

But you’ll get a brief early taste on April 28 and May 11; the Moon skips out-of-bounds on both of those those days.

So, let’s face it, change is already here. Millions are going to change jobs (and careers), where they live, and even what they believe…

It’s the nature of living through a global pandemic. It’s already happening. Magic or no, you can’t control what’s happening on the global stage.

But what control is how you respond to the change. You can get really clear on what you want, and what you need. Meditate. Write. Go to therapy. Read. Whatever it takes.

Just remember, you’re not alone. You may discover you need to do more research, or band together with others, to build the world you want.

But sitting on the couch, and expecting illumination to strike without effort, is not an option.

At least, it’s not an option for magicians, witches, wizards and others who want to create their own realities…

It’s time to figure out who you are.

What’s Next?

Well, the first few weeks of Gemini season (that’s the very end of May and the start of June) may feel like a lull in the storm. But you’ll be grateful for the small break as we move into the summer’s potent eclipse season

A “Ring of Fire” solar eclipse falls on the summer solstice.

On June 21, soaring from Africa through the Middle East, Pakistan and India, above the Tibetan plateau, and across southern China and Taiwan.

Just picture it… standing at the roof of the world on the Tibetan plateau, surrounded by the Himalayan, watching the sky turn dusky red as the Moon and Sun meet in one of the greatest shows on earth.

That’s a first-class herald of global change…

It’s not too early to ask yourself how will you contribute to it?
